Twenty One people have died due to a severe heat wave that hit parts of central Morocco.The Moroccan Ministry of Health reported in a statement today that the hospital center in Beni Mellal recorded 21 deaths due to the heat wave, including 4 deaths outside the hospital, and 17 deaths in hospital, explaining that the majority of deaths were people suffering from chronic diseases and the elderly, as the high temperatures contributed to the deterioration of their health and led to their death.The Beni Mellal region, located in the center of the country in the Middle Atlas Mountains, was one of several regions in different regions that suffered from a heat wave between Monday and Wednesday, with temperatures ranging between 38 and 48 degrees.In addition to the health repercussions, the high temperatures pose a threat to the water reserves in Moroccan dams, in light of the severe drought that the country has been facing for the sixth consecutive year, as it has exacerbated the rate of water evaporation to o ne and a half million cubic meters per day, according to the country's Ministry of Equipment and Water.Source: Qatar News Agency
