Tripoli: The University of Tripoli witnessed the signing ceremony of a joint cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Tuesday morning. The agreement aims to support sustainable development, enhance the university’s capabilities in scientific research and innovation, and build institutional capacity, thereby contributing to serving the local community and achieving development goals in Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, the two sides discussed ways to develop educational institutions and enhance cooperation in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence. This includes integrating modern technologies into academic and administrative processes through regional and international partnerships facilitated by the program, which will contribute to improving institutional performance and modernizing the university’s digital infrastructure.
The agreement also addressed leveraging the expertise of Tripoli University professors, including senior faculty members, to provide academic and scientific consultations and participate in development programs overseen by the UNDP in collaboration with the university, according to the same source.
During the signing ceremony, the university president emphasized Tripoli University’s commitment to expanding cooperation with international organizations, particularly those working in development and capacity building. He noted that this agreement represents a significant step towards connecting the university with national and international development projects.
For his part, Abdullah Al-Dardari expressed his appreciation for the scientific and research role played by Tripoli University, affirming the UNDP’s readiness to support the university’s initiatives and projects that contribute to enhancing human and economic development in Libya.
The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Khaled Ghouma, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Professor Radwan Hussein, Director of the International Cooperation Office; Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Nawaisri, Director of the University’s Research and Consulting Center; and representatives from relevant entities.
