Benghazi: UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh, and Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar have underscored the importance of continued coordination and dialogue to support UNSMIL's efforts in advancing Libya's political process towards lasting peace and stability. The meeting, held in Benghazi, also included Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs Stephanie Koury.According to Libyan News Agency, Tetteh and Haftar focused on the latest developments in the political process and the ongoing efforts to push forward the UN-facilitated roadmap aimed at achieving inclusive presidential and parliamentary elections. They expressed concerns over the lack of progress by the House of Representatives and the High Council of State in advancing the initial stages of the roadmap, and discussed strategies to overcome these obstacles to reinvigorate the political process.Tetteh highlighted the importance of maintaining engagement with all Libyan stakeholders to support a Libyan-led and Libyan -owned political solution. She was also informed about the Structured Dialogue tracks and the ongoing discussions intended to establish a consensual path toward national elections and unified institutions.
