Special Representative for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Abdoulaye Bathily affirmed the need for the Libyan parties to engage in a constructive dialogue to reach a political agreement on contentious issues pertaining to the holding of elections.
"Today, I had a meeting with the HCS President, Mohamed Takala, and members of the Presidency Office. We agreed on the need to finalize the electoral drat laws, taking into account the observations provided by stakeholders to make them implementable," Bathily said via X platform (formerly Twitter).
Presidential and legislative elections was scheduled to be held in Libya in Dec. 2021, but they were postponed indefinitely due to disagreements between political parties.
