Misrata: Two people tragically drowned at the Misrata resort, commonly referred to as the "Industrial Resort," prompting a significant local response to aid in their recovery. The Tobacts Swimming Club was the first to announce the incident, appealing to swimmers and residents for assistance due to a critical shortage of search personnel.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Eastern Region Maritime Rescue Unit has issued an urgent call for skilled divers and swimmers to join the search efforts for the victims. This appeal underscores the severe lack of field support personnel needed for effective rescue operations.
Hatem Balhaj Ali, the official spokesperson for the Eastern Region Maritime Rescue Unit, informed WAL that rescue teams have been tirelessly searching since the report of the incident. He highlighted the pressing need for experienced individuals to bolster the search efforts, given the current constraints.
Balhaj Ali detailed how the teams initiated their search immediately after the incident was reported but faced significant challenges due to limited resources and personnel. He urged volunteers and skilled divers to contribute to the rescue mission, emphasizing the critical nature of the situation.
He also made an open appeal to Misrata's residents and any available support, stressing the urgency of their assistance in this humanitarian crisis. While confirming the continuation of search operations until the missing individuals are located, he also reminded the community of the importance of adhering to maritime safety guidelines and avoiding hazardous swimming areas.
