Tripoli: Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Tetteh, met with the Russian Ambassador to Libya, Aydar Aganin, to discuss developments in the political process and UNSMIL’s efforts to establish favorable conditions for peaceful and comprehensive elections.
According to Libyan News Agency, both parties highlighted the significance of progressing the political process to boost stability and fulfill the aspirations of the Libyan people to conclude the transitional phases through a sustainable political process. They deliberated on the Structured Dialogue facilitated by UNSMIL, with Tetteh emphasizing the need for Libyan-Libyan engagement in the process to generate recommendations that could ultimately foster conditions for peaceful elections.
Furthermore, the discussions underscored the necessity of forming a shared vision for Libya’s future, grounded in national consensus, respect for the country’s sovereignty, and support for Libyan institutions, to improve the chances of achiev
ing lasting peace and stability.
