Tariq Al-Ashtar and Misbah Douma Elected as Deputies in House of Representatives

Benghazi:Members of the House of Representatives have elected MP Tariq Al-Ashtar as the First Deputy Speaker with a majority of 63 votes, surpassing MP Al-Siddiq Hammouda, who received 47 votes, during a session held for electing the leadership body.

According to Libyan News Agency, the election for the First Deputy Speaker proceeded to a second round after Tariq Al-Ashtar initially received 43 votes, Al-Siddiq Hammouda 35 votes, and MP Izz al-Din Qawirib 32 votes. The final round was contested between Al-Ashtar and Hammouda.

Additionally, MP Misbah Douma was unanimously elected as Second Deputy Speaker during the session. Earlier in the day, Al-Salihin Abdul-Nabi was elected as Speaker of the House.
