Tripoli: The Chairman of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, met with the Charg© d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, as part of efforts to enhance international cooperation in the areas of transparency and financial oversight.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Audit Bureau stated that the meeting addressed the role of the Audit Bureau in supporting transparency and accountability through effective oversight of public funds. The importance of maintaining the Bureau's independence and impartiality was also emphasized, thus enhancing the confidence of local and international partners in its audit outputs and reports.

The Bureau added that the meeting discussed ways to benefit from international experiences in developing oversight work and supporting institutional capacity-building efforts. It also reviewed a number of issues of common interest, particularly those related to strengthening good governance, combating corruption, and creating a sound institutional environment that contributes to supporting stability and stimulating economic growth.
