Seven fishermen returned to the fishing port in Hodeida province on Friday, months after being abducted and tortured in the prisons of the Eritrean authorities.
The Minister of Fisheries, Mohammed Al-Zubairi, during their meeting with the Head of the General Fisheries Authority of the Red Sea, Hussein Al-Atas, explained that the Eritrean authorities had released 100 fishermen, including 93, who had arrived yesterday in Al-Khokha, while seven fishermen had arrived at the fishing port of Hodeida after months of torture in Eritalia's prisons.
The continued crimes of abduction and torture of Yemeni fishermen by Eritreans and behind them the Emiratis were considered a flagrant violation of all international agreements and instruments. These crimes and violations will not be subject to a statute of limitations.
The fishermen indicated that the Eritrean Navy abducted them while they were fishing in Yemen's maritime waters and took them to its prisons, where they were subjected to various types of torture, hard work and starvation.
During the reception, the Vice-President of the Fisheries Authority, Abdulmalek Sabr, the Director-General of Ports and Centers of the Authority, Aziz Ateni, and the chief fisherman in Hodeida, Abdullah Hanash, the Minister of Fisheries and the Authority's leadership handed over funds to fishermen.
