Salah Al-Kamishi Elected as Head of Libya’s High Electoral Commission

Tripoli: The State Council has elected Salah al-Kamishi as the Chairman of the High National Elections Commission. Al-Kamishi received 63 votes, surpassing his competitor Aref al-Tayyar, who garnered 33 votes.

According to Libyan News Agency, the voting session saw 103 out of 107 members present participate in the second round of voting between al-Kamishi and al-Tayyar. The decision marks a significant development in the leadership of Libya's electoral body.

As of now, no official response has been issued by the House of Representatives or the High National Elections Commission concerning the State Council's decision to form a new board for the commission. Previously, the House of Representatives had decided to retain the previous board of the commission while proceeding with the election to fill vacant positions on the board.
