Repsol Murzuq Outlines Ambitious Exploration Plans for Murzuq Basin.


Tripoli: Repsol Murzuq Company convened its inaugural technical meeting of 2024 with the Exploration Department of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to discuss its ongoing and future exploration activities in the Murzuq Basin. The discussions focused on the company’s exploration efforts for the current year within two specific concessions in the basin, as well as proposed activities for 2025.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting highlighted the upcoming preparation operations for the drilling of the exploratory well A1-02/30, also known as Moamel Al-Nisr, which is slated to commence at the end of this month. Additionally, the company is preparing to drill six more exploratory wells during 2025. The meeting underscored that all preparation activities in the area are currently being conducted under excellent security conditions, with no security breaches reported.

Participants in the meeting included the Director of the Exploration Department at the NOC, the Director of the Exploration Department at
Repsol, and several specialists from both organizations. Through a closed circuit, specialists from partnering companies “OMV,” “Total,” and “Equanor” also engaged in the exploration project discussions.
