Sabratha: The Counter-Security Threats Unit of the Ministry of Interior has announced the death of Ahmed Omar al-Dabashi, also known as "al-Amu," during a security operation in the city of Sabratha. Al-Dabashi was one of the most wanted individuals by the Public Prosecutor's Office in the Western Region.According to Libyan News Agency, the operation was initiated after a checkpoint in Sabratha was attacked by armed individuals linked to al-Dabashi. These groups, described as "outlaw criminal gangs," were associated with activities including human trafficking, drug trafficking, and murder. In response to a warrant from the Public Prosecutor's Office, the agency's units conducted a raid on the gang's hideout. The raid resulted in the arrest of Saleh Omar al-Dabashi, whereas Ahmed Omar al-Dabashi was killed in the encounter.The Counter-Threats Agency emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards any threats to national security and citizen safety. It reiterated its dedication to performing its duties with fir mness and decisiveness, as mandated by law.In June, the Ministry of Interior had instructed the Criminal Investigation Department to apprehend al-Dabashi and his associates for their criminal activities in the city. Since early morning, Sabratha has experienced armed clashes between factions loyal to al-Dabashi and the Counter-Threats Agency forces. The confrontations have primarily occurred along the hospital road and extended to the al-Tanara area on the coastal road, among other nearby regions.
