Tripoli: The parliamentary committee tasked with investigating Libya’s ongoing monetary crisis has officially commenced its work. Formed by a resolution of the House of Representatives, the committee held its inaugural meeting under the leadership of the Second Deputy Speaker of the House, Misbah Douma. The meeting was attended by committee members Adam Bou Sakhra, Al-Siddiq Hamouda, Zayed Hadiya, Tariq Al-Ashtar, Youssef Al-Farjani, and Aisha Shalabi.
According to Libyan News Agency, the committee’s primary mandate is to engage with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, its board of directors, and all pertinent authorities. The goal is to investigate the underlying causes of the nation’s monetary crisis, which includes a liquidity shortage and fluctuations in exchange rates. Additionally, the committee aims to ensure the regular payment of state employees’ salaries.
The committee emphasized that its efforts are in alignment with the House of Representatives’ commitment to resolving financial and monet
ary issues. By addressing these imbalances, the committee seeks to alleviate economic pressures on Libyan citizens and promote financial stability across the nation.
