Minister of Oil Engages Weatherford for Resumption of Operations in Libya


Tripoli: Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdul-Sadiq engaged in talks with a delegation from the American company Weatherford to discuss the executive steps necessary for the company’s return to operations and its role in enhancing the oil and gas sector in Libya. The discussions centered around the strategic implementation plans for Weatherford’s resumption of activities in the country.



According to Libyan News Agency, Deputy CEO of Weatherford, Richard Ward, led the delegation and confirmed that preparations are underway for the company’s operational return. He noted that Weatherford has begun setting up its administrative headquarters and field site in the Jalu 59 field, signifying their commitment to the Libyan market.



During the meeting, Ward expressed the company’s ambition to significantly contribute to the development of Libya’s oil sector and improve its production capacity. This sentiment was echoed by the ministry on its Facebook page, highlighting Weatherford’s intent to play a pivotal role in the sector’s advancement.



Minister Abdul-Sadiq welcomed Weatherford’s efforts to resume operations, emphasizing the crucial role that international companies play in boosting and developing Libya’s oil and gas industry. He also assured the ministry’s readiness to provide necessary support and facilities to facilitate Weatherford’s swift and efficient return to operations.
