Meeting chaired by Al-Nuaimi discusses implementing urgent programs mechanism for agricultural sector advancement

Meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, headed by member of the Supreme Political Council, Muhammad Saleh Al-Nuaimi, discussed today ,Satuarday, the mechanism for implementing urgent programs to advance the agricultural sector and enhance its role in food security.

The meeting, which included the Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Abdulmalik Al-Thawr, the undersecretaries of the ministry and the heads of its affiliated institutions and bodies, reviewed the activities of the ministry and what was implemented within the framework of the directives of the Revolution Leader , the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the goals of the national vision for building the modern Yemeni state.

The Supreme Political Member praised the efforts made in the path of advancing the agricultural sector, and the positive results achieved in this context.. indicating that the stage requires redoubling efforts to bring the country to the stage of self-sufficiency.

The meeting emphasized the implementation of four urgent advancement programs to achieve self-sufficiency, the first of which focuses on doubling production by 150 percent from last year in crops of grains, legumes, vegetables and the rest of the varieties that will be developed by the stakeholders, in the forefront of which is research and multiplication.

While the second program aims to completely replace 30 imported agricultural varieties, prevent their import, and partially replace 30 other items in order to reduce the import bill.

when the third program focuses on supporting industry that depends on agricultural inputs, and establishing 10 production and export factories starting from intermediate industrial raw materials , and the production of final industrial commodities, in addition to the substitution of industrial commodities that depend on agricultural inputs by 10 factories.

The fourth program aims to support rural agricultural development in the provinces, support mechanisms for seed multiplication, agricultural extension, marketing and agricultural research.

The meeting determined the mechanism of action for the implementation of these programs, with the involvement of the private sector and the Agricultural Cooperative Union as two main partners in implementation, and an emphasis on cooperation, integration and institutional work among all in the framework of partnership with the various concerned parties as a constant of the management constants that will be consolidated.
