Tripoli: The Ministry of Health in the Government of National Unity has taken a significant step towards addressing the actual need for medicines and enhancing the supply system. Mohamed Al-Ghouj, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry, led a consultative meeting focused on discussing the mechanisms for the provision and distribution of medicines. This meeting has resulted in the launch of a comprehensive national plan aimed at ensuring that all healthcare facilities across Libya have access to necessary pharmaceuticals.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting was attended by key figures including the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Supply Authority, experts in the pharmaceutical field, directors of relevant technical departments within the Ministry, representatives from the Emergency Medicine and Support Authority, and engineers from the drug system. The discussions culminated in the establishment of a national system designed to regulate the flow of medicines. This system focuses on aspects such as quality, quantity, and price, and aims to minimize stockpiling and waste. The ultimate goal is to protect public health and ensure environmental safety.
The initiative is part of the Ministry of Health’s broader strategy to develop the pharmaceutical supply chain, promote governance and transparency, and guarantee the constant availability of essential medicines. This effort is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of healthcare services available to Libyan citizens.
