Libya Takes the Helm at 119th Session of Arab Economic Unity Council


Cairo: Libya chaired the 119th Ministerial Session of the Council of Arab Economic Unity at the League of Arab States headquarters, with participation from ministers and representatives of member states. The session was led by Engineer Essam Al-Aoul from Libya’s Ministry of Economy and Trade, representing the Government of National Unity.



According to Libyan News Agency, Engineer Al-Aoul, in his opening remarks, highlighted the critical need to reactivate joint Arab economic mechanisms. He advocated for the creation of specialized committees to oversee the implementation of economic decisions and projects, aiming to achieve significant developmental objectives.



Ambassador Mohammadi Ahmed Al-Ni, Secretary-General of the Council, addressed the historical significance of the session, noting the Council’s longstanding role as a cornerstone of economic cooperation in the Arab world. He underscored the necessity of political and material backing to bolster Arab economic integration.



The session concluded with the endorsement of recommendations from preparatory committees, focusing on implementing prior decisions to advance Arab economic coordination. This effort is part of a broader strategy to achieve a comprehensive development vision that fulfills the aspirations of Arab nations.
