Libya Authenticity Association Plans Cultural Festival to Revive Heritage

Sabha: The Libya Authenticity Association for Heritage and Arts in Sabha is discussing initial plans to organize a cultural festival focused on heritage and traditional arts. The festival aims to revive popular heritage and promote its authentic values.

According to Libyan News Agency, the association's president, Hassan Taher, stated that the festival is intended to "highlight the heritage of our forefathers and introduce the noble values and authentic principles that this heritage carries, especially to the younger generation."

Taher mentioned that the festival will showcase heritage artifacts, including traditional and home-made crafts, clothing, furnishings, perfumes, and traditional decorative items. Additionally, a display of manuscripts and documentary photographs will emphasize the landmarks and historic buildings of the old city.

The festival will feature a cultural program with readings of popular and classical poetry, live demonstrations of customs and traditions, and workshops on traditional crafts. Civil society organizations focused on heritage from the Fezzan region will participate.

The president of the association also indicated plans to produce visual and audio episodes documenting the cultural heritage of the southern region, aiming to preserve and promote Libyan cultural identity among new generations.

Taher confirmed that coordination with official bodies and cultural organizations is underway to invite guests and tourist delegations from across Libya to experience Sabha's unique heritage landmarks.

Founded in 2012, the Libya Authenticity Association for Heritage and Arts aims to preserve and promote popular and cultural heritage both locally and nationally.
