Moscow: Libyan-Russian relations witnessed a significant development with the resumption of the work of the joint committee between the two countries during an official meeting held yesterday in Moscow, Russia, after a hiatus of more than 25 years. The Libyan side was headed by the GNU-Minister of Transportation, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, with the participation of the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, as part of a high-level official delegation. The Russian side was headed by the Minister of Energy, Sergey Tsivilyov, in the presence of a number of senior officials.According to Libyan News Agency, the two parties discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in several strategic sectors, most notably the energy sector. They also explored preparations for the return of Russian companies to work in Libya and the resumption of direct flights between the two countries, which would support economic exchange and strengthen people-to-people ties.The talks also focused on the development of infrastructure projects and cooperation in technical areas, alongside discussions on training and capacity-building programs.The two parties agreed to continue coordination through the joint committee and plan to hold its next meeting in Tripoli. This reflects a move towards establishing a long-term partnership based on mutual interests and economic integration.This meeting came as part of Libya's efforts to enhance its international presence and diversify its partnerships in support of stability and reconstruction.
