During his opening speech, the minister affirmed that the government has dedicated special attention to occupational safety and health, as well as protecting the work environment.
He noted that the qualified and trained supervisory bodies have been established to ensure that these systems and laws are implemented properly and complied with, to enhance workforce protection.
Humaidan emphasised that the industry requires new skills to keep up with rapid advances in science and technology in occupational safety and health to maintain national standards, achieve high work and product quality, and develop national regulations and practices.
Sophia Kagan, Chief Technical Adviser of the Regional Fair Migration Project in the Middle East (FAIRWAY), stressed the importance of advancing workplace occupational health and safety principles through cooperation between production parties.
She highlighted ILO’s keenness to provide technical support to improve occupational safety and health systems and worker efficiency.
This event coincides with Bahrain’s commitment to the principles related to the fundamental rights of the Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 1981 (No. 155) and the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006.
