Khoury and Saleh Discuss Advancement of Libya’s Political Roadmap


Tripoli: The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, engaged in a phone call with Counselor Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the House of Representatives, to discuss how to advance the political roadmap facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).



According to Libyan News Agency, during the conversation, Khoury highlighted the necessity of completing the initial steps of the roadmap, which involve amending the legislative and constitutional frameworks for elections and reconstituting the board of directors of the High National Elections Commission.



In response, Speaker Aguila Saleh confirmed the House of Representatives’ dedication to collaborating with the High Council of State to expedite the process. Khoury emphasized the critical role of Libyan institutions in taking leadership and fulfilling their responsibilities to the citizens, warning against further delays in establishing unified and legitimate institutions in Libya.
