International Coalition Supports Libya’s Path to Unity and Prosperity

Washington: The governments of the United States, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom have jointly issued a statement affirming their commitment to supporting Libya's pursuit of unity, stability, and prosperity, alongside the Libyan people's aspirations for lasting peace.

According to EMM, the coalition welcomes the United Nations Security Council's decision to extend the mandate of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). The statement also endorses the roadmap developed by UN Special Representative Hanna Tetteh. The governments urge all Libyan stakeholders to leverage this roadmap and UNSMIL's facilitation to advance a Libyan-led political process aimed at achieving unified governance and conducting elections.

The coalition reiterates its support for increased military and economic coordination between Libya's western and eastern stakeholders. It welcomes efforts to integrate Libya's security forces and urges Libyan leaders to take further steps to expand and institutionalize military coordination and unification between the east and west.

Furthermore, the statement calls for actions to strengthen Libya's economic institutions, particularly the National Oil Corporation (NOC), the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), and the Audit Bureau. The coalition commends the appointment of an official chairman of the NOC and the Unified Development Program Agreement signed by representatives of the House of Representatives and High State Council. These measures are seen as pivotal to setting Libya on a path toward sustainable economic policy, enhancing the NOC's program to boost energy production, bolstering the CBL's financial stability, and facilitating development projects nationwide.

The joint statement highlights that increased economic and security integration is vital for ensuring Libya's sovereignty, security, and long-term prosperity. It emphasizes that a strong and prosperous Libya, with unified economic, military, and political institutions, aligns with the interests of all involved nations.
