Governor of the Central Bank of Libya Meets with Audit Bureau Head to Discuss Financial Oversight and Sector Development


Tripoli: Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Naji Issa, engaged in discussions with the Head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, focusing on performance and oversight issues in financial and economic sectors.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting took place yesterday and was attended by officials from both institutions. Key topics included the CBL’s monetary policy management, financial stability, and the monitoring of oil revenue collection, which is a vital source of public funds.

Discussions also covered the necessity of funding the oil sector to boost production, adhering to legal frameworks for sustainability, and addressing commercial banks’ performance to enhance transparency and compliance.

Both parties stressed the need for integration between the CBL and the Audit Bureau in overseeing public financial performance, aiming to strengthen public confidence and address economic challenges effectively.

Additionally, they discussed a joint training program with the Institute of Bankin
g Studies to upgrade the technical skills of the Audit Bureau’s staff in financial areas.

At the meeting’s conclusion, Shakshak presented audit reports of the bank’s financial statements for 2011 to 2016, prepared according to international standards, emphasizing transparency and accountability.
