The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, chaired a coordination meeting via video conference yesterday as part of the preparations for the 161st Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the GCC states, scheduled to be held on September 9, in Riyadh. Senior officials from the GCC general secretariat attended the meeting.The GCC secretary-general said that this internal coordination meeting for the 161st Ministerial Council meeting is planned to coordinate and prepare comprehensively for all the topics that will be tackled on the agenda. The meeting will involve a number of files about the joint GCC action, as well as several regional and international issues.He also indicated that during the 161st Ministerial Council meeting, the GCC states would hold several joint ministerial meetings to discuss cooperation and coordination and exchange views on regional and international current affairs.AlBudaiwi added that these GCC minis terial meetings support the joint efforts among the GCC states to develop cooperation and integration through the exchange of views and the adoption of GCC decisions and recommendations. They also follow up on the implementation of joint Gulf initiatives and projects designed to achieve sustainable development, security, and stability for the GCC states and their people.Source: Saudi Press Agency
