Benghazi: The Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the National Council for Civil Liberties and Human Rights have agreed to form a joint framework for cooperation. This framework is intended to enable the Council to utilize its authority to monitor human rights conditions and support Libya's efforts in adhering to international treaties.
According to Libyan News Agency, this decision was reached following a meeting between Youssef Al-Aqouri, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the HoR, and Naima Al-Aribi, Vice-Chairman of the National Council for Civil Liberties and Human Rights, along with her delegation. The meeting took place at the Council's headquarters in Benghazi, where discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between the two entities.
HoR spokesperson Abdullah Blihaq revealed in a press statement that the meeting addressed several topics, including the situation of Libyan youth detained in Italy. Al-Aqouri assured that the Foreign Affairs Committee is actively monitoring this issue.
The meeting also explored international cooperation strategies to advance human rights, emphasizing the development of joint capacity-building programs and the utilization of international expertise. Al-Aribi conveyed the council's willingness to assist in reviewing and amending pertinent laws, as reported by Blihaq.
