Tripoli: The Public Prosecution Office has detained three Moroccans and a Chadian on charges of falsifying national ID data. The Public Prosecution has begun examining the criminal case against these four expatriates, who allegedly formed a criminal gang to deliberately falsify data on the national identification system.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Public Prosecutor's Office reported that the Public Prosecutor reviewed findings submitted by the Office's Communications and Information Affairs Control Department. The findings revealed a conspiracy involving three expatriates from Morocco and one expatriate from Chad, in collaboration with public employees, to list 60 national identification numbers for individuals who were not Libyan nationals. This conspiracy also involved the misuse of registration data from ten Libyan families to illegitimately obtain citizenship rights.
The Office further explained that upon interrogating the accused expatriates, the Public Prosecution ordered their pretrial detention pending investigation. Additionally, the Office directed the arrest of the remaining contributors involved in the incident.
