Tripoli: The European Union Special Envoy to Libya, Nicola Orlando, has affirmed the European Union's full support for the political process facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). He stressed the need for all parties involved to commit to a comprehensive and credible process that would pave the way for fair national elections.According to Libyan News Agency, Orlando's remarks came during a meeting held in Tripoli with Walid Al-Lafi, the Minister of State for Political Affairs in the Government of National Unity. During the meeting, they discussed the latest political and security developments in Libya, emphasizing the importance of maintaining calm and reinforcing the ceasefire.Orlando communicated his thoughts through a series of tweets on his official "X" platform account. He welcomed the formation of committees focused on security arrangements and human rights, while also expressing concern about the ongoing tensions in the Libyan capital.The European Envoy reiterated th e European Union's commitment to accountability for any obstacles hindering the political process. He emphasized the urgent need to address economic challenges and called for the adoption of fair and transparent public spending at the national level, highlighting it as crucial for protecting Libyan families.Orlando concluded by stating that the European Union is prepared to support all efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Libya.
