Tripoli: The Electoral Commission has strongly condemned recent attacks on its offices located on the West Coast and in Zawiya. In a statement, the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) referred to the incidents as criminal acts, highlighting that the West Coast Electoral Administration Office building was set ablaze at dawn on Friday. Additionally, the attack on the Zawiya Electoral Administration Office resulted in the destruction of a main warehouse filled with voting materials and a training hall used for preparing electoral staff.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Commission declared that these actions represent a direct assault on the electoral process and are attempts to prevent Libyan citizens from exercising their democratic rights. It asserted that these attacks will not impede its commitment to organizing free and fair elections in alignment with the highest international standards.

The Commission urged security agencies to take full responsibility for prosecuting those responsible for these crimes and to ensure the protection of its offices nationwide. It also reiterated its call for unity and solidarity in safeguarding the electoral process, emphasizing that protecting the will of Libyan voters is a collective responsibility.
