Tripoli: The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, has issued Decree No. 117 of 2026, outlining the official Eid al-Fitr holiday for the year 1447 AH. The decree specifies that the first, second, and third days of Shawwal will be recognized as official holidays.

According to Libyan News Agency, the decree further designates the fourth day of Shawwal as a holiday for all employees working in public sector entities and similar institutions. However, essential humanitarian and security services are exempt from this holiday. Employees in these sectors will be entitled to compensation for working on that day, in line with the applicable legislation.
