Tripoli: The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, held discussions with representatives from the United Nations and Germany to explore ways to enhance cooperation and support the political process in Libya. The meeting included Hanna Tetteh, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, her deputy Stephanie Khoury, and German Ambassador Ralf Tarraf.
According to Libyan News Agency, Tetteh expressed approval of the recent release of several detainees who had been unlawfully imprisoned for years, describing it as a constructive move towards justice and national reconciliation. This development was noted as a significant part of the discussions.
The German Ambassador provided insights into the outcomes of the International Follow-up Committee on Libya meeting conducted in Berlin in June. This briefing highlighted the international community’s ongoing engagement in Libya’s political landscape.
Dabaiba affirmed the government’s dedication to working alongside the United Nations Mission, emphasizing support for efforts to achieve a comprehensive settlement and conduct elections based on a consensual constitutional framework. He also highlighted the Government of National Unity’s national strategy to enforce the rule of law across all institutions, aiming to maintain the state’s integrity and unify decision-making processes.
