Congolese President and UN Envoy Discuss Political and Security Developments in Libya

Brazzaville: Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, Chair of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya, received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Libya, Hannah Tetteh, in Brazzaville. The meeting focused on the latest political and security developments in Libya, as well as ways to support and implement the roadmap presented by the Special Representative to the Security Council on August 21.According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions emphasized the importance of unifying efforts between the United Nations and the African Union. This collaboration aims to ensure the success of the national reconciliation process, highlighting an approach that places victims at the center of the process, thereby becoming an essential element within the comprehensive national dialogue process.For her part, the Special Representative expressed her appreciation to President Sassou Nguesso for his ongoing commitment to cooperating with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and all Libyan parties. She commended his role in supporting Libya's transition to unified and legitimate institutions through elections.
