Benghazi: Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN and Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Libya, Aeneas Chuma, visited Benghazi and discussed the continued humanitarian and development efforts of the UN in coordination with the Libyan authorities. The visit marked Chuma's first trip to Benghazi since assuming his new position on October 8.According to Libyan News Agency, Chuma's visit took place on October 29-30. He succeeded the Canadian Georgette Gagnon in his role. During his visit, Chuma engaged in meetings with representatives of UN agencies, where he reiterated the UN's commitment to providing support to all people in Libya. This support is based on the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and operational independence, which are the foundation of the UN's humanitarian work.The discussions in Benghazi highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the UN and Libyan authorities to address humanitarian and development needs in the region. The UN aims t o ensure that its assistance reaches those in need across Libya, adhering to its core values and operational guidelines.
