The US dollar suffered steep losses on Tuesday, with the Japanese yen on the back foot after a sharp rise in the previous session as traders contend with unwinding of popular carry trades and the prospect of deep rate cuts
The general index of Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) dropped 44.54 points, or 0.44 percent, at the beginning of trading on Tuesday, reaching 10,012 points, compared to yesterday’s closing.

Gold prices edged higher on Tuesday after comments from Federal Reserve officials reinforced expectations of bigger US interest rate cuts later this year.
Spot gold was up 0.1% to $2,408.77 per ounce, while US gold futures rose 0.2% to $2,449.50.
