British Minister Affirms Support for Libyan Political Process in Meeting with Al-Menfi


Tripoli: During a meeting with the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, in Tripoli, British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Hamish Faulkner, affirmed that Britain is closely following developments in the Libyan situation. The meeting, which took place on Monday, was also attended by the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, and several accompanying officials.



According to Libyan News Agency, Faulkner expressed that Britain is fully prepared to support the Libyan political process at all stages. The goal is to achieve a sustainable solution that restores Libya’s security, sovereignty, and political and economic stability. The British Minister commended the efforts of President Al-Menfi in promoting the peace process and facilitating dialogue among Libyan parties.



The discussions during the meeting included bilateral relations and strategies to enhance them for mutual benefit. The meeting also covered recent political, economic, and security developments in Libya. President Al-Menfi’s role in issuing decisions to form committees related to the truce, security and military arrangements, and a human rights committee to monitor prison conditions and detention facility safety was also highlighted. These steps are part of efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and ensure stability in the capital.
