Bani Walid Municipal Council Finalizes Arrangements for Saif al-Gaddafi’s Burial, Condemns Assassination

Bani walid: The Bani Walid Municipal Council has announced the completion of arrangements for the funeral of Saif al-Gaddafi, alongside preparations for receiving mourners from various Libyan cities and regions. This effort has been coordinated with the city’s security and service agencies.

According to Libyan News Agency, the council has issued a statement condemning the assassination of Saif, labeling it a “treacherous act” designed to “undermine national unity and the political process” in Libya. The council warned that such actions could “fuel hatred and fracture national unity.”

The statement also explained that the council agreed to the Saif al-Islam family’s request to bury him in Bani Walid due to “the deep social ties that bind the Warfalla and Qaddadfa tribes.” These ties are characterized by intermarriage, coexistence, and mutual support, supported by a long history of shared bonds.

The Bani Walid Municipal Council concluded its statement by affirming that “Bani Walid will always remain a city for all Libyans, regardless of their political affiliations or viewpoints,” underscoring that it “stands today, as it always has, at an equal distance from everyone.”
