Dubai, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, participated in the “Education Ministerial Meeting”, held as part of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), hosted by Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting discussed countries’ experiences in enhancing the ability of education systems to contribute to climate action by focusing on climate education.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Juma reviewed the efforts made by Bahrain to integrate environmental culture in education, as well as consolidate the concepts of afforestation and caring for green areas in educational curricula.
He stressed that the educational institutions in the Kingdom, whether at the level of early education, school education or higher education, have made major strides in implementing educational environmental programmes and initiatives that aim to increase awareness among students and community members about environmental issues.
The minister underlined the importance of concerted efforts to make the curricula and educational methods at all educational levels directly linked to achieving international environmental goals.
