The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain's hosting of the Executive Bureau of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Council reflects the Kingdom's commitment to strengthening interdependence and integration between the Cooperation Council countries and their peoples. Albudaiwi made these remarks during his participation in the opening ceremony of the new headquarters of the Executive Bureau of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Council today in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In his speech, Albudaiwi expressed gratitude and appreciation to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain for his generous support of joint Gulf action. This support has resulted in significant efforts and impacts on the Council's initiatives. Additionally, Albudaiwi highlighted that the Kingdom has hosted several headquarters and bureaus affiliated with the General Secretariat of GCC, including the Executive Bureau, which it has hosted since 1978. This showcases the Kingdom's dedication to collaborative Gulf efforts and its commitment to providing the necessary facilities and services for the success of these bureaus and headquarters.
The GCC Secretary-General emphasized that the GCC countries prioritize labour-related issues and have taken various steps to align their laws, procedures, and systems with international obligations, particularly those set forth by the International Labour Organization. Albudaiwi underscored that the Islamic religion, along with the customs, traditions, and values of the GCC peoples, promotes the principles of respect, rights preservation, goodwill, and humanity in all levels and forums.
Albudaiwi concluded his speech by expressing his hope that the new headquarters of the Bureau would serve as a platform for increased dedication, contribution, and sincerity in joint Gulf action related to labor and social affairs. He also offered prayers to Allah the Almighty for the continued security, safety, and prosperity of the GCC states and their peoples under the wise leadership of the Cooperation Council's leaders.
