Tripoli: The Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity and Head of the Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee, Major General Emad Al-Tarabulsi, has announced that urgent solutions will be enacted to address Libya's ongoing fuel crisis. These efforts aim to tackle the root causes and implement practical measures and actionable decisions within days.

According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Tarabulsi's announcement came during a meeting with representatives from oil companies, members of the Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee, and security directors in the western region. The meeting focused on discussing the current fuel situation, improving distribution mechanisms, ensuring access for citizens, and reducing congestion and legal violations.

Al-Tarabulsi emphasized the necessity of a unified effort from the government, the Ministry of Interior, the oil sector, companies, security agencies, regulatory bodies, and citizens to address the crisis effectively. He urged prioritizing Libya's national interests over personal, tribal, and regional considerations and stressed the importance of applying the law uniformly.

The Minister highlighted the critical role of a strong national security institution in achieving stability, enforcing the law, combating violations, and protecting Libya's resources. He revealed that 490 gas stations involved in smuggling operations have been closed as part of a coordinated security plan, while 365 stations are operational to meet citizens' needs.

Al-Tarabulsi explained that systematic smuggling of diesel fuel through the sea and ports has led to shortages and affected citizens' daily lives. He assured that diesel will be distributed solely through gas stations to ensure availability and equitable distribution. He acknowledged challenges within the National Oil Corporation and oil companies that have exacerbated the crisis and committed to combating fuel manipulation and black market price hikes.

The Minister warned against any interference with the committee's authority, stating that violators will face legal consequences. He highlighted the success of security directorates in securing targeted stations, while issues related to supply and transportation fall under other relevant authorities.

Al-Tarabulsi called upon oil company employees to operate without external pressure, emphasizing that this matter concerns state interests and citizens' rights. He urged cities and regions to support the police in maintaining security and stability. The Minister also addressed the exploitation of media and social media by parties linked to smuggling, which have distorted the Ministry's efforts and incited public opinion.

He concluded by affirming that efforts will continue tirelessly to ensure smooth fuel distribution to stations, enabling citizens to access fuel without delay.
