Sirte: The "Al-Somoud Convoy," organized to break the blockade on the Gaza Strip, is currently halted at the entrance to Sirte as it awaits necessary security clearances to proceed towards the Libyan-Egyptian border.

According to Libyan News Agency, Wael Nawar, the official spokesperson for the convoy, reported that security authorities at the Sirte checkpoint requested a list of participants' names and passport numbers. These details have been submitted, and the convoy is now awaiting a response and further clarification from security officials.

Wael Nawar has publicly appealed to the Libyan government, appointed by the House of Representatives, to facilitate the convoy's passage. He emphasized Libya's strong stance on the Palestinian issue, citing the Libyan Parliament's criminalization of normalization with the Zionist entity as evidence of its commitment. Nawar expressed confidence that the convoy would receive a warm welcome from the Libyan people, noting the support they have already experienced in various cities. He reiterated that the convoy maintains no political affiliations and stands united with all Libyans, in both the eastern and western regions, in support of the Palestinian people.

The spokesman also called on local residents and families near the convoy's temporary camp to assist by providing essentials. The camp, situated in a semi-desert area, lacks basic necessities, and the convoy is in need of large tents for shade, drinking water, portable toilets, and other critical supplies.

Wael Nawar affirmed the participants' resolve to continue their mission, aiming to reach Gaza, hold a sit-in at the Rafah crossing, and ultimately break the siege.
