Al-Menfi Engages Libyan Political Parties to Foster National Elections

Tripoli: The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, convened with leaders and representatives of various Libyan political parties at the Council's headquarters in Tripoli. This meeting aimed to safeguard the Libyan political process, promote national consensus, and drive towards consensual national elections to conclude transitional phases and stabilize the country's institutions.According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting involved extensive political discussions on recent developments in the political process. The participants focused on necessary guarantees for the success of the upcoming phase, the importance of maintaining national ownership of the political process, and enhancing political and partisan participation to establish a stable democratic path.Al-Menfi acknowledged the efforts of the (6+6) Committee, which includes representatives from both the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, in drafting parliamentary and presidential election laws. He also praised the Advisory Committee for its observations on the finalized laws, which aim to ensure greater consensus and fairness.The meeting concluded with a joint political statement from the parties involved. This statement outlined national principles related to reinforcing political legitimacy, unifying institutions, and supporting the democratic process. It emphasized broadening national participation in political dialogue as a critical step towards building a unified and stable state, enabling its people to express their national will through democratic and peaceful means while preserving political pluralism.
