Al-Menfi and Italian Ambassador Discuss Key Political and Economic Developments

Tripoli: The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, met today in Tripoli with the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gian Luca Albrini, to discuss bilateral relations and the political and economic developments in the country.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Presidential Council’s media office reported that the meeting addressed a number of issues of common interest. They reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and explored ways to strengthen and develop it in various fields, aiming to serve mutual interests.

The discussions also focused on the developments in Libya’s political and economic landscape. Al-Menfi emphasized the efforts led by the Presidential Council and its specialized committees to monitor the economic situation and work towards its improvement, thereby contributing to economic stability.

The two leaders also discussed the latest developments regarding the unification of the military institution and the efforts being made in this regard, which are expected to enhance the country’s stability and support the building of state institutions.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the challenges facing the political process, emphasizing the importance of pushing for a comprehensive political settlement based on the existing framework sponsored by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). This settlement should ensure the consensus of key institutions and lead to the holding of elections on a clear legal basis.

Both sides stressed the importance of intensifying joint coordination in combating illegal immigration and organized crime, and strengthening security cooperation between the two countries to serve security and stability in Libya and the region.
