Al-Juwaifi and Deputy German Ambassador Discuss Enhancing Local Governance Cooperation

Tripoli: The Minister of Local Government in the Government of National Unity, Abdul-Shafi Al-Juwaifi, held a meeting with the Deputy German Ambassador to Libya, Daniel Schmschke, along with Christine Graikochia, the Embassy's Cooperation Officer. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation between Libya and Germany in the areas of local governance and support for decentralization.

According to Libyan News Agency, Minister Al-Juwaifi outlined the Ministry's initiatives to improve municipal performance and the level of services provided. He emphasized the significance of international partnerships in developing institutional capacities and supporting local development programs.

Deputy Ambassador Schmschke reassured Libya of Germany's commitment to continuing their existing cooperation. Graikochia also expressed the Embassy's cooperation team's readiness to offer technical support for ongoing and future projects.

The discussions included reviewing projects implemented under joint cooperation programs and plans to expand initiatives aimed at improving municipal performance and capacity building. Both parties exchanged views on future strategies and mechanisms to enhance their partnership, aiming to achieve tangible results that bolster decentralization efforts and improve public services.
