Al-Baour Meets with UNICEF to Discuss Child Protection and Education in Libya

Tripoli: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met today with the UNICEF Representative to Libya, Mohamed Fayyad, to discuss priority areas, particularly child protection and support for the education and health sectors.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation between Libya and UNICEF, strengthen social protection programs, and build national capacities in line with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals. Discussions also focused on the nomination of the new UNICEF Representative to Libya. Mohamed Fayyad briefed the Minister on the procedures undertaken in this regard, expressing his hope for continued close cooperation and coordination with the Ministry during the transitional phase, to ensure the uninterrupted implementation of the organization's programs.

Both parties agreed to continue consultations and coordination, strengthen the partnership between the Libyan government and UNICEF, and develop future areas of cooperation. These efforts aim to serve the interests of both parties and support national efforts to improve the conditions of children and families throughout Libya.
