Al-Abed and British Council Partner to Enhance English Language Education in Libya


Tripoli: The Minister of Education in the Government of National Unity, Ali Al-Abed, has signed an agreement with the British Council aimed at improving English language teaching across educational institutions in Libya. The signing took place under the supervision of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, with the presence of Hamish Faulkner, British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, and the British Ambassador to Libya.



According to Libyan News Agency, the initiative focuses on enhancing English language education in Libyan schools and universities by revamping curricula for primary and secondary education, and updating academic programs in English language faculties at universities. This initiative is designed to align with student needs and labor market demands.



The Prime Minister’s initiative further seeks to boost teacher efficiency through specialized training and qualification programs, employing the latest educational methods and overseen by accredited experts, as stated by the Prime Minister’s media office.



The implementation strategy includes a comprehensive assessment of educational needs, development of modern training programs, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. These measures aim to ensure the achievement of objectives, fostering an educational environment that enhances students’ skills and academic performance in the English language.
