An earthquake measuring 4.4 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Monday off the Gulf of Kusadasi on the Aegean Sea in western Turkiye.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.97 km, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported.
There have been no reports material damage or human losses as a result of the earthquake so far.
Turkiye sits on top of major fault lines and is frequently shaken by earthquakes, the most devastating of which was in 1999 northwest of the country, killing 18,000 people.
